ProcessIQ’s Variant Configuration module allows customers who have commonality in their product build and assembly processes, to maintain ultimately a single work instruction, that contains multiple final product configurations. This simplifies the maintenance of work instructions, by allowing common elements of a product’s process configuration to be re-used, without the need to duplicate and allow other Work Instruction operations and steps to be filtered based upon configuration.

 

This is achieved by allowing a set of options (characteristics) to be assigned to a Product (Variant Product) in AssemblyX, the characteristics can then be assigned to operations and steps within the product’s work instruction and filtered when the work instruction is consumed.

 

When the Variant Product or associated Product Variants are consumed on the shopfloor, using the library view or a Production Order in DMES, the resultant work instruction shows the filtered operations and steps.

 

Characteristics can be assigned to all the step item types, i.e. Media, Health & Safety, Tools, Actions, Documents, Non-BOM Articles, Bills of Material Parts and Data Capture Inputs
